Cleric calls for Islamic Ummah to rise against US, Israel

TEHRAN – The secretary-general of the Qademoun Global Assembly says the Islamic Ummah must stand shoulder to shoulder against the Zionist regime and the United States, calling for a shift "from the awakening of the Iranian people to the awakening of the Islamic Ummah."

Hawzah News Agency- Hojatoleslam Rasul Bagheri made the remarks Thursday at the first international conference "The Awakening of the Ummah of Muhammad," organized by the Qademoun Global Assembly, according to a report by the Hawzah News Agency.

Unity must move beyond symbolism

Stressing the need to move past symbolic gestures and conferences to achieve real Islamic unity, Bagheri said: "Today, the Islamic Ummah must stand hand in hand against the Zionist regime and America, and move from the awakening of the Iranian people toward the awakening of the Islamic Ummah."

Referring to Unity Week and the birth anniversary of the Prophet of Islam (peace be upon him and his family), he said discussions were held during the week about unity between Shias and Sunnis — but a question must be asked: Is Islamic unity limited merely to holding conferences, or must a practical solution be devised for its real realization?

Ummah must confront Israel, US

Referring to recent regional developments and conflicts, Bagheri said the Islamic Ummah must, in the current circumstances, join hands and stand against the Zionist regime and the United States.

Citing a recent remark by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution on the role of the people in the country's developments, he said that according to this view, if an incident befalls the country, God will awaken the people and they will finish the task. "Today we witnessed the Iranian people take the stage, demonstrating this concept of a popular awakening," he said.

But this awakening must not be limited to the Iranian people alone, Bagheri continued. "The question is: has the time not come for the Islamic Ummah to rise up against oppression and aggression and in support of oppressed nations?"

Signs of awakening across the region

Referring to developments in various regional countries, Bagheri said in Iraq, the people and Hashd al-Shaabi forces are present, with Shias and Sunnis standing together. In Lebanon, Hezbollah and the country's people are on the scene. In Pakistan, people took to the streets after the martyrdom of resistance leaders and figures, and in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Yemen, signs of this awakening and popular presence are visible.

On Yemen, he said: "Today in Yemen, we see how the people of this country have risen up and are standing against the Zionist regime. This process shows that it is possible to move from the awakening of the Iranian people toward the awakening of the Islamic Ummah."

Toward an Islamic Ummah united against oppression

Bagheri linked the "awakening of the Islamic Ummah" to the realization of unity among Muslims, saying: "We seek the awakening of the Islamic Ummah, the unity of the Islamic Ummah, and the formation of the Islamic Ummah — and this movement must continue on the path of confronting oppression, supporting oppressed nations, and the cause of Palestine."

In conclusion, Bagheri expressed hope that the unity and awakening of the Islamic Ummah would reach the stage of practical realization as soon as possible. "We hope this will happen soon," he said.
